From the national shooting sports basis:
NSSF is mindful that Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) finished a search warrant at Polymer80’s offices in Arizona and seized from Polymer80 one “buy, build, Shoot” equipment and a few business data, apparently together with client lists for these kits.
in accordance with a few news studies, in the affidavit to obtain the search warrant – which became leaked to the media – the ATF took the position that the Polymer80 “buy, construct Shoot” equipment is a “firearm” because it is “readily convertible” to hearth.
It does not seem that ATF considers standalone so-referred to as “80% receivers” to be a “frame or receiver” regulated by means of the 1968 Gun manage Act. dealers should discuss with their attorney and/or contact ATF for assistance as as to whether it may sell “purchase, built and Shoot” kits and below what conditions. NSSF will continue to monitor this circumstance and record extra as we be trained more information.
